In the current market, it’s best to get “Pre-Approved” and not just “Pre-Qualified”.  Pre-Qualified is the first stage of the process where they run a credit check, and Pre-Approval is where you’ll you’ve already provided the lender with their checklist of docs such as W2s and bank statements.

Some buyers like to explore options with a few different people to explore various possibilities. Each of them have their own special lending programs and so it’s good to compare.
